Moloney Search was established in the first half of the 1990s to enable clients to headhunt highly talented individuals into a wide variety of positions, rather than just the traditional preserve of the boardroom.
The vision of the founder, Dr Curly Moloney, was to identify and develop a network of outstanding individuals at an early age and then to track these individuals throughout their professional years. Drawing upon her experience at Oxford and Cambridge Universities and her professional career as a headhunter with Saxton Bampfylde plc Curly believed that such a business could offer a real competitive edge to clients by enabling them to hire the best people early in their careers, and certainly before their competitors.
The business hit the ground running and focused itself commercially into two distinct areas:
A Graduate Search practice identifying the top talent at Universities. With businesses finding it increasingly difficult to hire the best graduates this turned traditional milkround recruitment on its head, so that companies could directly target specific candidates.
An Executive Search practice focusing on individuals with between two and fifteen years of experience, primarily in the commercial sector. In the early years this focused on individuals with between two and seven years experience, drawing in part upon the people identified through Graduate Search. Latterly, and as individuals and networks have matured, the focus has widened into more senior positions, including high level board and leadership roles.

In 2007 a coaching and consultancy practice – Moloney Advisory was established drawing on the experiences we have gained working with some of the most talented business leaders in the country. Experienced coaches and leadership and talent management experts were bought on board to complement the Search team.
